Tell us more about you…

I am an Author, Editor-in-Chief, Journalist, Motivational Speaker, Fashion Blogger, Model, Wellness Influencer, Traveler, Mompreneur, and most importantly a Mother. I am an Indian ex-pat living in Dubai for the past 13 yrs with my family. Educationally, I have a degree in Business Management and Teaching and had a successful career in the Corporate & Educational sector, before taking a career break to balance out my family life. While I loved being at home & spending quality time with my family, still a side of me was looking to venture out. That is when I decided to pursue my passion for writing. After winning a writing contest by Khaleej Times, my inputs started getting featured in reputed newspapers, magazines, websites, books, radio, TV & blog portals in Dubai, India, UK, the USA, and South Africa. This got me much needed appreciation, acknowledgment, and respect. So, with encouragement from my family, I decided to follow my dreams and. But a myth that women who have taken a career break are less ambitious or committed to their work. As I enjoy writing, communicating, and connecting with people and love to pen down my thoughts, I started my personal blog to share my inputs & experiences, and unleashed my passion for becoming an Author and released my books, and became a renowned Writer. My favourite self-authored book has been ‘Living life on your own terms’. This ideology is the basic foundation of my life and the cornerstone of my Instagram blog aptly titled @living_life_on_own_terms, as I truly believe in living life on my own terms and encourage others to do the same. I believe in live & let live. I seek to inspire and empower all, especially women.

What does FASHION mean to you?

“Your outfit is self-expression.” It says something about you to those around you, so it’s best to approach clothes with intention and purpose. Clothing gives an idea of your character and even boosts your confidence if you feel good about what you wear. Fashion is a way of introducing yourself without having to say a word. You can tell the whole world about your personality just by the type of clothes you wear. It is also a way to express yourself. It provides us with a creative outlet that we can constantly change and improve. The best way to describe my personal style is: Simple, timeless and relatable. Simple because I love easy, light and airy outfits; timeless because I can wear the same style 10-20yrs from now and relatable because anyone at any age can be comfortable wearing my style.

Online vs Offline Shopping

From a simple purchase to finding great deals, the internet is easy access to anything and everything out there. Online shopping seems like the best option during the times of the pandemic. I personally rely more on online shopping over in-store shopping to avoid the frustration of going from one store to the other. Plus, whatever I order is delivered to my doorstep.

Which Fashion trends are you sticking to these days? Which Style or Dress is your Personal Favourite? What is your opinion on saree? Any piece (saree) you are proud of?

I like to wear fusion wear, mix of ethnic & western wear. Well, I am an Indian and I think
Saree is the most beautiful style of feminine dress. It has a quality of inter mixing with every era. Saree according to me, is a very unique outfit to wear and fits to almost all types of body shapes and it’s the most elegant attire for women to wear and look beautiful. There are many categories according to fabric, occasions as well as styles. Nowadays, there are many saree draping styles as well where you can really fit yourself according to your body shape. Sari still lives and prospers mostly because it has been able to adapt to every age.

Who are your biggest influences?

Though style is always evolving and consistently breaking new barriers, there are so many influential fashion icons who are trailblazers in every sense of the word. The world has been blessed with models, actors, performers and designers who created what we would consider “classic” styles today, along with bold looks most of us could only dream of one day emulating. The fashion legends of decades past are the reason we have so many incredible styles from which to choose-and  have influenced nearly every fashion trend to appear from our favorite designers and brands. I have been inspired by many, difficult to name one!

Handy advice on Fashion/Makeup?

I have a daily skincare routine of cleanse, tone and moisturize before going to sleep and that’s all! As for fashion, I advise all don’t follow too much trends, instead wear what suit you and your personality. Be sure that what you wear make you feel
comfortable and confident; specially suiting your personality and body type. Remember, ‘Fashion changes, but style endures.’
